Governors – vacancy

The Governors are a group of volunteers who represent a cross-section of the school community.  They meet together regularly to inform the strategic direction of the school and monitor progress towards the school’s areas of development.  As a church school we have to have a ‘Foundation Governor’, but currently this position is vacant.  A Foundation Governor has the same responsibilities as all other Governors but has a particular interest/sympathy with our Church School Foundation.  Often this person regularly attends church (this does not have to be St Margaret’s), but this is not absolutely necessary.  Any applicant needs a desire to continue to improve the quality of education for the children in Ditchling; they do not have to an existing connection with the school. If you are interested in the role, please contact the school office or speak to Mr Wakeford, Chair of Governors. The role is vital in supporting the school in continuing to develop and ensure we fulfil our vision of ‘Learning Together. Building Success.’  We look forward to hearing from you.

For more information about Governors please see Governors section in School Information tab.

Headteacher Welcome

I would like to welcome you to our school.

At Ditchling (St Margaret's) CE Primary and Nursery School our clear vision - Learning Together. Building Success - unites staff, governors, families and children.

We are a welcoming, creative and inclusive community which, as of January 2019 includes 173 pupils across seven classes and a nursery.  Alongside regular teaching of literacy and mathematics, including daily phonics sessions in infants, children’s learning across the curriculum is enriched by regular outdoor learning opportunities including Forest School.

Our recent (December 2017) OFSTED inspection judged us to be a 'Good' school overall; we were delighted to achieve 'Outstanding' for the Pupil Development, Behaviour and Welfare section.  The Inspector remarked on the exemplary behaviour of the pupils. Also noting that 'pupils benefit from a rich and engaging curriculum. They thrive on the motivating opportunities staff organise.'

The process has endorsed our self-evaluation and next steps for future development. The report is published on the School Information - Reports on the school tab.

The school is very well supported by an enthusiastic and passionate governing body and FPTA as well as by the Diocese of Chichester and clergy serving our local church, St Margaret’s in Ditchling.

We would be delighted to share with you our vision and enthusiasm for learning.  Anyone interested in joining our school community is welcome to contact us to arrange a visit.

I hope you enjoy your journey round our website and look forward to welcoming you to our fabulous school.
