Children in the Community Day was a wonderful experience where every class took part in helping out in our local area. Each year group did something different to make a positive difference, from caring for animals to supporting older people and raising money for good causes.
Year 6 children visited three different care homes and had lots of fun with the residents, making chocolate apples and Halloween crafts together. Year 5 went to Hassocks Infant School to read stories with the younger children. At the Ditchling Museum of Art + Craft, Year 4 learnt how printing was done in the olden days.
Year 3 baked and sold cookies to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis, raising an amazing £120! Year 2 visited Plumpton College to help sow wildflowers, while residents from Villa Adastra care home came to school to plant flowers with Year 1. Our Reception class made dog treat bags to raise £40 for Canine Concern.
It was a brilliant day full of kindness, creativity, and community spirit — showing how even small actions can make a big difference.
