This week, Year 2 enjoyed a fantastic day out at the British Wildlife Centre. The trip was a brilliant opportunity to see a wide range of native British animals up close, including foxes, owls, badgers, and even a family of otters!
The children loved learning about the different habitats and behaviours of the animals, and the informative talks from the keepers really brought the experience to life. It was a great way to support their learning about wildlife and conservation.
Everyone had a wonderful time, and the children came back full of facts and excitement!
A fun fact about owls’ ears is that they’re not symmetrical — one ear is usually higher than the other!
This clever design helps owls pinpoint exactly where a sound is coming from. The difference in height and angle allows them to detect tiny time delays in when a sound reaches each ear, so they can locate prey even in complete darkness — just by listening!
